Alex Rodriguez was thrilled to be a sponsor of The 16th Annual Keels & Wheels Concours D’Elegance & Auction held April 30 – May 1, 2011 at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas.
As the only show in the United States featuring classic boats and cars, this show never disappoints. Thousands of people enjoyed a rare glimpse into the past as they meandered around hundreds of featured boats and autos.
A few highlights from the event include:
- Thousands of dollars were raised for Boys & Girls Harbor, an organization that assists children and families in crisis, and Houston PBS Channel 8
- The 100th Anniversary of the Indy 500 was celebrated and vintage Indy racers, including a 1934 Harry A. Miller Indy Car from the Henry Ford Museum, were viewed
- The Century Boat Club was honored and the 50th anniversary of the Century Sabre was acknowledged
- The Houston Classic Auction created lots of smiles, from both buyers and sellers
- Attendees enjoyed an amazing display of electric and converted cars ranging from 1910 – present day, including new versions like the Tesla and vehicles owned by Bobby Darin and Red Skelton
- Original Warner Brothers sound trucks used on sets of such famous movies as Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden and The Adventures of Robin Hood, as well as many others from 1936 to the late 1960s
