Project Joy & Hope
The Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz team celebrated the spirit of the holiday season by playing Santa Claus to children who are unable to celebrate Christmas at home. In partnership with Project Joy and Hope, a local nonprofit agency that provides support to critically ill children and their families in our community, Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz turned their company holiday bash into wondrous toyland magic! Each employee donated three new toys to Project Joy and Hope for its Holidays program, collecting more than 250 toys for area children.
Jamie Byrd, Director of Child Life at Texas Children's Hospital, beamed with delight when Dr. Jan Wheeler, Executive Director of Project Joy and Hope, drove up in front of the Emergency Room with an SUV "sleigh" filled with new games, dolls, sports equipment and toys! Jamie remarked, "This is absolutely wonderful! Our team will be able to put a smile on the faces of so many children!"
Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz is thrilled to continue its support of Project Joy and Hope, and looks forward to the Annual Hope Scholarship Awards Reception scheduled May 23 in Pasadena. Our successful sales drive last October raised over $6,000 for college scholarships that will be awarded to area seniors who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling.
Project Joy and Hope extends its sincere appreciation to everyone at Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz for your generosity to children facing very difficult challenges. Happy New Year!

Bowling for a Cause
Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz made a bighearted strike at the first annual T.J. Ford Celebrity Bowl-a-Thon benefitting Houston Children's Charity, on Saturday, July 11th.
The "Strikes for a Cause" event raised funds to assist in the purchase of a special-needs vehicle to aid in the charity's mission of improving the quality of life for Greater Houston's underprivileged, abused and disabled children.
Celebrities Joseph Addai and Travis Daniels joined ARod Mercedes-Benz's own kingpins Garrick Hatfield, Martin Cohen, Mendel Cheng and Ashley Tobar for a night of spirited competition in the name of this very compassionate cause.
Other bowlers in attendance included Chester Pitts, Casey Hampton, Travis Daniesl, Ali Highsmith, John Lucas, LaMarcus Aldriged, Glen Davis, Nick Van Exel and Chris Wilcox.

Personal Security and Automotive Safety:
Our Commitment to Serving Houston
In recent months, Houston and surrounding areas have experienced an increase in violence against women; in the past 90 days alone, three women have been viciously attacked in local neighborhoods. To demonstrate our commitment to the safety of our citizens and customers, Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz recently hosted two free Crime Awareness Workshops here at the dealership.
At two educational events on March 25 and April 8, Sergeant Joe Klinkovsky and Officer Michael Sierra from the West University Police Department (both certified authorities in Crime Prevention and Defensive Tactics) shared their extensive expertise. More than 52 women gained important knowledge about safety at home and work, awareness while out with family or friends and protecting oneself from domestic violence and identity theft. Attendees also learned how several Mercedes-Benz security features – including time delay lights, automatic door locks and Tele Aid – can be used to maximize personal safety.
We thank Sergeant Klinkovsky and Officer Sierra for their contribution to this successful event – and to the ongoing safety of Houston’s women.

Go Red for Women in 2010
Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz has once again teamed up with the American Heart Association to support the Go Red for Women campaign, a national movement to help women raise their awareness, and reduce their risk, of heart disease. For the fifth consecutive year, we were proud to sponsor the Bay Area Go Red for Women Luncheon on March 26, 2010 at the South Shore Harbour Resort.
Sponsors and donors raised a record-breaking $63,000 in 2009, and we look forward to an equally impressive turnout in 2010. Join forces with us to improve women's heart health and save thousands of lives every year by reserving tickets to this year's luncheon, or for more information about the Go Red campaign, please visit www.goredforwomen.org. |

Boys and Girls Clubs
of Greater Houston
Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz supports Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston by periodically donating a percentage of sales to the organization and though other volunteer efforts. As national spokesperson for Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Alex Rodriguez champions Campaign 3 P.M., the Boys and Girls Clubs’ initiative to enroll every child in America in an after-school program. This landmark campaign is one of the Boys and Girls Clubs’ most aggressive efforts, and is the first time in its history a bilingual approach has been taken.
