Mercedes automaker has confirmed that the new Mercedes-AMG GT S will cost starting at $129,900.
The new GT has every characteristic that the drivers can expect from AMG, from the optimum weight distribution to the styling thoroughbred motorsport technology. This AMG possess such features as a Burmester Surround Sound System, Nappa Leather, AMG 3-Stage ESP, Keyless-GO, Red Brake Calipers, COMAND, Rearview Camera, Collision Prevention Assist PLUS, Parktronic, Power heated/memory AMG Performance Seats, 8 Airbags, LED Headlamps, 19″ Front / 20″ Rear wheels and AMG Adaptive Suspension. Powerful 4.0 bi-turbo V8 engine shows 503 horsepower and 479 ib-ft of torque, providing 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
On the one hand it is not the most expensive Mercedes model. Certainly, such models as SLS AMG, GL63, S63, G63 or SL63 will set you back more than this new GT S.
On the other hand we can see that Mercedes-AMG is moving into a new segment. As regards to competitors the price of AMG GT S is on the same level with the price of Porsche 911 GT3. This Mercedes becomes closer also to Audi for an R8 with a V8. Another competitor from the same price segment is the Jaguar F-Type. Nevertheless Mercedes is staying out of McLaren, Ferrari and Lamborghini, though the previous model and the SLR were more expensive.
In general Benz has thought carefully about its pricing policy. In spring 2016 Mercedes is going to produce another AMG GT, the base model that will be not so expensive due to less power. The engine of this base variant will provide 456 horsepower and 443 ib-ft of torque and a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds.
The new GT S goes on sale in the USA in April this year.
